Looking Back At Sunday

  • We dove into a new series called Authority Issues. Over the next several weeks we’ll be diving into Luke 4-5 and talking about the freedom, fulfillment, and protection that comes from living under God’s authority structure.
  • Several LifePointers asked how they could plug into serving. They’ll all be test driving a ministry area this Sunday.
  • I had an amazing conversation with a woman in her 50′s who grew up in a very traditional church. When she came to LifePoint, she was concerned that her flip flops would be out of place. She quickly found that we are truly are a come-as-you-are church. Her key quote was, “This is a special place.”
  • LifePoint Senior Pastor, Pat Hood, visited the Stewarts Creek Campus. Aside from that cute little statement about me teaching on Authority because Vanessa(my wife) wasn’t there, it was great to have him! He was stoked about the energy and passion there.
  • I met several new familes who were first time guests. I’m so thrilled that our folks have are living the mission of LifePoint, “Pointing People to a Christ Centered Life.” Stewarts Creekers are Investing 2 Invite!
  • I spoke with a Stewarts Creeker who brought some friends on Palm Sunday. She indicated that her friends loved it and were blown away by the friendliness they experienced.

To God be the glory for what He’s doing at the LifePoint Church Stewarts Creek Campus! Keep on keeping on. The best is yet to come! If you have a story of life change, I’d love to hear it…..Comment below or email me at kris.dolberry@lifepointchurch.org

Kris,
Even though I was not able to hear the sermon on Sunday from the auditorium, I did watch from the Cafe. I am very thankful that we have that ability to hear God’s word in many ways! Today, while at work, a co-worker came to me and I have been walking with her while her father is living with cancer in Indiana. He is currently in a nursing home while recovering from hip replacement and also taking chemo/radiation therapy. Once an avid golfer, he is confined mostly to his room/wheel chair. Since they are apart most of the time due to distance, she and I have had many opportunities to discuss many of the unknowns due to that distance. Today she talked about his outlook at been very positive the last few days. He was coming off of a two week withdrawn state–I told her that some times when we experience holidays (Easter) in celebratory fashion, someone dealing with a serious health condition may not feel so inclined to join in that celebration and would at times withdraw. I know when I and my late husband would come upon a holiday we usually felt the world stopped, let us off, and then just kept going without us—not, from a world view, much to celebrate. She understood and then told me that she felt God is drawing her to change her direction while in college. She has been going to college getting her degree in Adult Psychology. She told me that the direction she is being pulled to the health care field, particularly nursing homes. I told her about the sermon on Sunday and the verse in Luke 4 about Jesus teaching with authority. I can’t tell you how many times I read right past that verse and did not stop and understand the reason why He read with authority! We talked about the Rabbi’s of that day teaching, but only taught what they had learned from someone else. Jesus taught Himself to others! We talked about how to apply what we experience to help others. When we learn from books as she is doing in college, she learns, but doesn’t experience. When life happens and it affects our very core, then our life can teach others and that makes all the difference. She walked away with a greater understanding of how to use the pain in our life to be a blessing to someone else. God’s message spoken through you was right on time today!! Thank you!
