Miracle, mercy, sovereignty. Those are the three words I think of when I reflect on the saga that is my life. 7 months into her pregnancy, my teenage mother gave birth to me in an emergency room in the small Greenville, AL hospital. Though she heard my first cry, she never even held me, having made the decision to give me up for adoption. After 6 weeks of neonatal intensive care and 4 months with a foster family, my life was invaded by 2 heroes who personified the love of God. At 5 months old I was adopted by Ron and Jane Dolberry.
I remember being 8 years old and understanding that my sin had broken God’s heart. I knew that I did not want to spend my life separated from Him. So, as He pursued me, I began to follow Him. At 14 I began to sense God’s call on my life give it to Him for full time Christian service. Though I ran from that call for nearly 6 years, He finally chased me down at age 20 and I allowed Him to take complete ontrol of the direction of my life and vocation.
After completing seminary, my journey of ministry has taken me to 4 churches and from Alabama to California and back to Tennessee where I’m currently serving at LifePoint Church outside Nashville. Though the years, God has deepened my passion to see the the plastic and institutionalization of the American church melt away to leave behind what Jesus intended- a movement that is real, relevant, and life changing.
The love of my life is my family. I have the great blessing of being married to Vanessa, my high school sweetheart. She’s not only my wife and ministry partner, she’s also my best friend. God has given us three beautiful children, Konnor (7), Emma(5), and Brady(1). We live in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
